Noord
Noord is known as one of the most popular barrios in Aruba, and is constantly thriving and growing with clusters of neighborhoods each distinct with its character. The literal translation of Noord in Papiamento means North, which is very appropriate as Noord is the most North point of Aruba. This area is very quiet and perfect for families looking for a place to live away from the city and nightlife. However if you get the urge to do something fun Palm Beach is only a 5 minute drive away and has something to do for everyone!
Noord is also home to two of Aruba's master-planned communities, Tierra del Sol Golf Resort & Spa and Gold Coast Residence. At Tierra del Sol, situated on the most scenic northwest point of the island, homes are built around the only 18 hole championship golf course on the island. At Gold Coast Residence luxurious condos, townhouses and villas, offer residents an active Caribbean lifestyle and the use of pools, tennis courts, walkways and lushly landscaped gardens.
The barrio is filled with surprises and hidden gems such as La Delizia, an Italian baker tucked away on a back road, makes delicious just-baked breads and cakes. You can find local chef Ludwig Samson operating No Limit Catering, with different gourmet takeout selections everyday. The privately owned Santa Anna pharmacy is the best on the island, and famous for its personalized, caring service. You can even pay your taxes here, no need to go to hectic city for any government business, the government comes to Noord and may be found at the Palm Beach intersection.
Excellent schools, convenient ATM machines and banks, full service medical centers, health clubs, a professional tennis club, gyms, historical churches, supermarkets in every size, and Laundromats, Noord has it all, abuzz with restaurants, snack bars, and even a Mexican food truck, till the early morning hours.
